Projects: Costa-Rica
The Fund for Assistance to the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia began its activities in Costa-Rica when Fr. Rodion Aragon, the only ROCOR priest in the country, was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

In order to assist his family the Fund for Assistance raised and disbursed over $18,000.
This project is now closed.

The Holy Protection mission of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russian in Costa-Rica was founded in 1994.  The large Russian population in Costa Rica is in the process of building a church in the Pskov style.  The project has remained a dream a long time, as the local Russian community is poor. A part of the money was collected in the parishes of North America.  By Paskha 2010 the foundation, walls and roof of the church have been completed.

Fr. Rodion Aragon became a priest in January 2009. After his death in January 2010, the mission was left without a priest. Their spiritual needs are being tended by Fr. Daniel McKenzie who visits them every few months.
