From Jordanville to Belfast, A 10 Year Journey Completed!

For over a decade our very own Fr. Dcn. Andrei Psarev, of Holy Trinity Seminary, has been not only instructing seminarians but also working diligently to expand his knowledge of Church History. Fr. Andrei began continuing his education at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, writing his masters thesis on the historical evaluation of the attitude of the Russian Church Abroad towards non-Orthodox Christians and the ecumenical movement between 1920-1964.

A few years after completing his masters degree, Fr. Andrei decided his master’s degree was not enough. He enrolled in Queen’s University’s Ph.D program, in Belfast, North Ireland, and began his 10 year journey to Belfast. Over the course of 10 years Fr. Andrei researched and wrote his thesis on Canon 15 of the First and Second Council of Constantinople, of 861. This Canon played an important role in the late history of the Russian Church Abroad, as it was used to justify the reception of clergy, without canonical releases from other jurisdictions.

Your support of Fr. Andrei made it possible for him to complete 10 years of research and successfully defend his dissertation. In June, your donations made it possible for Fr. Andrei to attend his degree bestowment, at Queen’s University in Belfast. With his P.h.D. in hand, Fr. Andrei will bring his new expertise back to Jordanville to continue better educating the seminarians, our future clergyman. Your gift will continue to bring the truth and light of Orthodox to generations to come!
