Holy Trinity Skete in Mexico City

A Monastery That Never Stops Serving

Hidden in the heart of one of the world's largest cities is a tiny ROCOR monastery doing extraordinary work.

Founded in 2007, Holy Trinity Skete quickly became the spiritual home of Orthodox Christians throughout Mexico City. Russians, Serbs, Bulgarians, Moldovans, Mexicans, and many others have found a welcoming parish family under the loving care of Schema Archimandrite Nektariy (Petropoulos).

But the monastery's work extends far beyond its church walls.

A Shepherd for Everyone

Fr. Nektariy has often been called "the hope of ROCOR in Mexico." Those who know him speak of a pastor who never turns away someone in need.

Every day, the monastery serves people facing some of life's darkest struggles:

  • Victims of domestic violence
  • Those battling alcoholism and drug addiction
  • Families in crisis
  • Russian women navigating divorce and child custody issues far from home
  • The unemployed and those struggling to make ends meet

When devastating earthquakes struck Mexico, Fr. Nektariy volunteered his expertise as a psychiatrist to help traumatized neighbors cope with their loss and fear. The brethren also shared food, blankets, and whatever else they had with those around them.

This is what Orthodox mission work looks like in Mexico: meeting both spiritual and physical needs with Christ's love.

A Brotherhood That Sacrifices Daily

The monks ask for very little for themselves.

Because the monastery has almost no financial resources, the brethren work outside the monastery simply to survive. Fr. Nektariy himself is exceptionally gifted—speaking several languages and working as a psychiatrist, general practitioner, and even a surgeon to support the community.

Yet despite working multiple jobs, the monastery continues to struggle financially. The brothers rent their monastery building, and repeated rent increases have made their future uncertain. For years they have searched for a permanent home but have not yet been able to find one they can afford.

Your Kindness Keeps This Mission Alive

Every Divine Liturgy served.
Every person comforted.
Every struggling family helped.
Every soul welcomed into the Church.

None of it happens by accident.

It happens because faithful Orthodox Christians choose to stand beside this remarkable monastery.

Your generosity helps Holy Trinity Skete continue shining the light of Orthodoxy in Mexico, giving Fr. Nektariy and the brethren the resources they need to serve both their parish and their neighbors with compassion, dignity, and unwavering faith.

Together, we can ensure this beacon of Orthodox life continues to bring hope to everyone who walks through its doors.
